According to a 2007 Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Alumni Survey, 57% of alumni said the Club saved their life (up 5% from the 1999 survey), and 91% of alumni are satisfied with their adult life.
Character and Leadership Development... empower youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process and respect their own and other's cultural identities. Clubhouse programs include: Youth of the Year, Keystone Club, Youth For Unity and Community Service.
Educational and Career Development... enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines and apply that learning to achieve success in their future educational and career endeavors. Clubhouse programs include: Power Hour Homework Assistance and ENRICH (Education Needs Reinforcement Ignorance Can Hurt)
Health and Life Skills... develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults. Clubhouse programs include: SMART Moves, SMART Girls.
The Arts... enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing. Clubhouse programs include: SMART Girls X'Press Yourself; the three components of this program are creative writing, fashion design and dance; The Arts X'Press; program includes Radio Broadcast Journalism and DJ'ing in our state of the art radio broadcast booth.
Sports, Fitness and Recreation... develop fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, teamwork, appreciation for the environment and social skills. Clubhouse programs include but are not limited to: Project T.A.C. (Time Against Crime), flag football, basketball leagues, biddy basketball leagues
Teen Programming... offers age appropriate activities such as: Project V.I.P. (Vision Initiative Prospective), scholarship programs, community service opportunities, as well as drug and alcohol prevention programs. Our Teen center provides a safe and engaging space for Club Members ages 13-18. On Saturdays our Club remains open from 5:00 - 8:00 PM for Project V.I.P. It is our intention that youth be engaged in positive activities during these critical hours.
